Marriage The Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) created and gave gifts reflecting Himself, especially the gifts of marriage, life and family. As the Holy Trinity is the unity of three, so also marriage, life and family form a unity of three that echoes the reality of God. This is our starting point.

Child AbuseAbused children tend to perform worse at school (and are more likely to drop out) and have higher rates of juvenile delinquency (including running away, becoming violent with other children and engaging in criminal behaviors such as assault).
They experience a higher likelihood of drug and alcohol use and associated problems as well as much higher rates of mental health problems, such as depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. Child abuse can result in long-term physical, social and emotional problems. |
RacismGod’s love for this world (John 3:16) breaks down dividing walls between people (Eph. 2:13–16). As God’s children, Christians love their neighbor as God loves them (Luke 10:25–37).
The separation of people into nations, languages and groups is a result of the fall into sin (Gen. 11), and is one of the aspects of a broken creation God restored through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We eagerly await His coming when all will be one in Him (Rev. 7:9) as pleases Him, as He created us to be. |
DisabilitiesPeople with disabilities are less likely to be in worship and participate in the life of the congregation because of physical and attitudinal barriers, concerns about rejection or neglect, or the simple fact that people have not asked them to participate in worship, Bible study, fellowship and service.
The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod provides many Disability Ministry resources that can help you welcome all people to worship — regardless of physical, mental or developmental ability. |
